Why we’re building this.
A note for the people who service commercial accounts.

LocationsThere is always a gap between the business as it is and the business as it’s insured.
A policy describes a business at one moment. Then the year starts. It hires, opens a second location, buys a truck. The policy stays where it was, and the gap grows quietly until a claim, an audit, a certificate or the renewal forces a comparison. The broker carries the liability when the two don’t match. That’s what E&O cover is. It’s the legal form of the gap.
How change arrives
Clients know their business. They don’t know what’s relevant to insurance, and they shouldn’t have to. So change reaches a brokerage in the middle of a phone call, at the bottom of an email about something else, in a lease that lands in a shared folder. Almost none of it is announced as a change.
Turning that sentence into a task takes knowing the account, and that knowledge lives in the head of the account manager. It doesn’t scale. Every account needs someone holding it.

Dallas officeWhy the systems disagree
Ask where the truth about an account lives and every system gives a different answer, and each is right about its own part. The AMS knows what the brokerage recorded. The carrier knows what it issued. The email knows what the client said. None of them is the account, because no single party creates it.
The hard question was never how to synchronize the systems. It was how to tell when a conversation has become a fact, and what that fact obliges.
The account already lives here.
What renewal is for
Once a year everything gets redeclared, and twelve months of change get discovered on purpose, under a deadline. It works, mostly. It’s just late, and compressed, and the questionnaire is a blunt instrument, which everyone on both sides of it knows.
Where software stopped
AI can build the package, compare the quote, read the pile. All of it useful. All of it begins after someone has noticed.
A tool that waits to be asked can only help after the noticing is done. And the noticing was most of the job.
What changed
Two things had to become true. Recently, they did.

A client’s sentence, read against everything already known about that client, and understood for what it means to the account. Until recently the only place that history existed in usable form was in a person.
Reading a brokerage’s whole history used to mean sending every client’s email to someone else’s servers. Brokerages won’t, and carriers’ terms don’t allow it. Models good enough for this now run where the data already lives.
On hardware modest enough that re-reading every account as it changes is affordable. Not a sample, not a quarter. The book.
What follows
Once the account is held and read against, the things that never announce themselves become visible. The work can follow the fact instead of waiting for a person to define it: a new location implies an endorsement, a certificate, a change to the open renewal, and a record in each system that has to agree. What’s left for a person is the part that needs one. Whether the coverage is right, which markets to go to, whether to bind. This doesn’t take judgment out of the work. It moves it.
That’s what we’re building.
If you work in this and any of the above doesn’t match what you see, we’d like to hear it.
